Hooters Parramatta crowned a winner
last Monday night but not the type of winner you may expect. Texan Chris
Schroeder was crowned champion at the grand final of the Hooters Ultimate Chicken
Wing Challenge 2007.
Eating a staggering thirty eight hot and spicy chicken wings, one of Hooters
signature dishes in ten minutes, Schroeder beat over fifty contestants competing
over ten weeks, in the first annual all-you-can-eat challenge to claim the title.
Schroeder walks away with the first-ever Hooters Ultimate Chicken Wing Challenge
Champion title as well as winning a trip for two to the Gold Coast including
dinner at Hooters newest restaurant in Mermaid Beach.
Schroeder, who works for The Nielsen Company formerly AC
Nielsen, arrived in Australia three months ago, was nominated by his boss Anthony
Assad whilst dining at Hooters Parramatta. Schroeder says "Coming
to work in Australia is every American's dream, I love the country and
the people. I'm
a big fan of Hooters so winning the Hooters Chicken Wing Challenge is a fantastic
start to my Oz adventure with a little piece of home thrown in for good luck".
Hooters Parramatta and Hooters Mermaid Beach are part of
the Hooters network of over 440 locations worldwide in over 20 international
countries. Hooters
Restaurants Australia and New Zealand are scheduled to open their third location
in Cronulla NSW in March 2008, Hooters Penrith and Hooters Auckland New Zealand
