Gold
Coast, 10 April 2007
The globally recognised and world renowned Hooters
restaurant chain today confirmed it will open in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast
on 23 April 2007.
Following Hooters Australia's successful launch of the Hooters brand in
Parramatta Sydney in 2006, their second location in Mermaid Beach will join more
than 440 locations in over 20 countries world wide to become part of one of the
fastest growing international restaurant chains.
Expansion is a key focus for Hooters with local plans to open in Cronulla and
Penrith NSW and Auckland New Zealand by the end of 2007 and further 4-5 locations
throughout Australia including Brisbane in 2008. Internationally Hooters plans
to open in India, Colombia, South Africa, Guam and Dubai over the next two years.
"We believe Hooters winning dining concept coupled with local Gold Coast
Hooters Girls will be a big hit in Mermaid Beach" said Dah Lee, Chief Officer
of Hooters Australia & New Zealand "People are always trying to knock
off our brand but no one can imitate the real Hooters dining experience and we
are confident everyone on the Gold Coast will enjoy the first Hooters restaurant
in Queensland".
Hooters Mermaid Beach will be located at 2488 Gold Coast
Highway, Mermaid Beach in the Gold Coast and will feature non stop sports on over 30 TV screens, ice
cold beer and great food all delivered by our own world famous Hooters Girls.
The Hooters menu which has been adapted for the local Australian market will
include items such the signature chicken wings, aged grain fed steaks, BBQ ribs,
fresh green salads, grilled seafood and Hooters signature burger.
Over thirty five girls will be trained over coming weeks by a team of imported
American Hooters Girls to wear the famous white singlet and orange running shorts
to work at the restaurant. These new recruits were selected by a celebrity interview
panel including Sea FM's breakfast Benchwarmers Ant and Becks, ex Big Brother
contestant Jessica Hardy, Olympic baseballer Andy Utting, SMP sports photographer
Scott and NBN’s Motorsport presenter Matt MacKelden as part of a recruitment
event featuring the Hooters Girl uniform and a bikini round recently held at
the yet to open restaurant. The Mermaid Beach girls will join over 20,000 Hooters
Girls worldwide to represent the international brand both in the restaurants
and at sporting and charitable events.
Hooters Mermaid Beach opens to the public at 11.30am on 23 April 2007. |
